Q: Gastritis Diet?
Hi! What foods do I have to avoid and what foods are good for gastritis?

A: You don't want to eat foods which will irritate your stomach so avoid spicy/hot foods. Avoid alcohol and smoking (if this is applicable).

Q: Chronic Gastritis and the juice diet?
I have chronic gastritis and it is so hard for me to eat anything without wanting it throw it back up. I heard a juice diet for 7 days (only if you are chronic) will help and then you start off eating easy food after that. What kinda juice do you use and how many times a day. I am not doing it to lose weight I just want my normal stomach back :( I have never changed my eating habits besides to healthier, they assume its from stress..

A: Unhealthy food habit, lack of nutritional food is the major cause of gastritis. Patient suffering from gastritis should keep fast for 3-4 days. He may be given warm water during these days. The main idea behind keeping him abstain from food is the inflammation in the stomach will decrease as all the toxic material inside the stomach will diminish. Patient can also be given juicy fruits like grapes, apples, oranges, water melons, etc., 2-3 times a day. Patient should survive on these juicy fruits only, at least for 2-3 days. This fruit-diet gives fast relief and detoxifies the stomach. Patient should realize very well that unhealthy food habit, excess intake of alcohol and other drugs are the main cause of gastritis, and they should not forget this. Once patient start showing improvement, he can be given balanced gastritis diet containing cereals, grams, green leafy vegetable, juicy fruits, etc.

Q: is there any specific diet for gastritis patient,pl advice me?

A: Visit your doctor depending upon the severity of the Gastritis Gastritis Causes 1 )Irregular or excessive eating The most frequent cause of gastritis is a dietetic indiscretion such as habitual overeating; eating of badly combined or improperly cooked foods; excessive intake of strong tea, coffee, or alcoholic drinks; or habitual use of large quantities of condiments and sauces. 2) Worry, Anxiety Other causes include worry, anxiety, grief, and prolonged tension, use of certain drugs, strong acids, and caustic substances. Gastritis treatment using Coconut Coconut water is an excellent remedy for gastritis. It gives the stomach the necessary rest and provides vitamins and minerals. The stomach is greatly helped in returning to a normal condition if nothing but coconut water is given during the first twenty-four hours. Gastritis treatment using Rice Rice gruel is another excellent remedy for acute cases of gastritis. One cup of rice gruel is recommended twice daily. In chronic cases where the flow of gastric juice is meagre, such foods as require prolonged vigorous mastication are beneficial as they induce a greater flow of gastric juice. Gastritis treatment using Potato Potato juice has been found valuable in relieving gastritis. The recommended dose is half a cup of the juice, two or three times daily, half an hour before meals. Gastritis treatment using Marigold The herb marigold is also considered beneficial in the treatment of gastritis. An infusion of the herb in doses of a tablespoon may be taken twice daily Hope it helps

Q: what causes gastritis ulcers and what is the diet to prevent this problem?

A: gastric ulcers can be caused by many things, but the primary cause seems to be stress. I would begin a bland diet. The more spices in a dish will aggravate the ulcers and cause significant pain. I know it doesn't sound very good, but if it helps then it is worth it! Good luck!

Q: What diet should one choose for very irritable gut?
Have recovered from a stress related illness but am struggling with finding a diet that does not cause excessive gas. My problems included a bout of gastritis following which I stopped drinking alcohol , that was 18 months ago but I am still suffering from very irritable gut.

A: go to to http://www.lifeglutenfree.com try some of these foods stay away from all dairy , wheat, corn, caffeine, alcohol, tree nuts and believe it or not salad for now after seven days introduce one food type at a time see what happens wait seven days between each introduction

Q: I have recently been diagnosed with Gastritis and was wondering if smoking marijuana would hurt me?
I know the diet i need to be on and i know not to drink alcohol or smoke cigarettes. Just wondering if marijuana would be a bad idea.

A: Medical Marijuana is already used to help those with GI disorders, such as Gastritis or IBS. The best way to medicate, would be to use a vaporizer, which limits damage to the lungs significantly. Staying strictly to your diet is going to make the most difference.

Q: How long will it take for my dog to get over Gastritis?
She's been having symptoms since Sunday, took her to the vet yesterday, she's on a couple of medications and a special diet, althought she won't eat yet, she only drinks a little water. Any information would be appreciated. She's a two year old Dachshund, Thx.

A: yes boiled rice and cooked skinlees chicken or lean hamburger is ok in small portions. her throat and stomach are pretty raw from the acid buildup and until the meds kick in she might not be to hungry.u can give her a 1/2 teaspoon of pepto bismal to sooth it a few times a day and add a sports drink to her water for extra neiutrients to get her strenght back.call ur vet if she doesn't start eatting a little by tommorrow since she might need a different medication. i hope she gets better soon.

Q: What's wrong with my stomach? Diagnosed with gastritis, but still feeling bad...?
I've been suffering with abdominal pain & pain in the pit of my stomach after eating for the past several weeks... Originially, if I didn't eat, it hurt. If I ate, it hurt worse and then there would be about an hour period where after eating I would feel better, but then it would hurt again after that. I would also go through waves of severe nausea I went to the doctor a week ago now and she said I had gastritis. She perscribed me Prevacid 30mg and told me to eat only bland foods (no raw vegetables, no fruits, no spicy foods, no tomatoes, etc. etc.). The thing is, I don't feel like I have heartburn, it's more of a dull gnawing pain in my gut... I'm not sure if I was diagnosed correctly. So I've been eating the way I'm supposed to (which is hard to do because I don't know what I should eat and there's literally NO information online about gastritis diet) according to what the dr told me, and sometimes I feel better, but then again sometimes it hurts again & im nauseated..

A: If you do not agree with your doctor, or feel that he/she has made a mistake, see another one. I do know that with gastritis, it takes a while to begin to feel better. I would think that by the end of 2 weeks if you aren't much better, I would see if it could be something else, such as an ulcer, gallbladder, or something like that. :)

Q: Teenage bland diet ideas please ?
My 19 year old son has gastritis needs a bland diet , keeps asking for a curry !! so help please with suggestions for meals

A: use foods that already have a great flavor..I am not sure if he should eat green veggie or leafy ones they arent that great on digestive tracts! no seeds either...however yougurt and cottage cheese along with fiber is excellent... Do not eat the following foods if they cause pain, discomfort, or excess gas: * Broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, brussels sprouts * Green or red bell peppers * Hot chiles * Onions and garlic * Sauerkraut and pickled vegetables * Tomato products, such as tomato paste, tomato sauce, or tomato juice * Vegetable juices fish and chicken are very flavorfull...without added seasoning...this is very hard for someone who likes the spicy foods...He can not eat anything spicy or acidic..ask a dr for a nutritionist who can help him with this..there are things he might be missing in his diet that cuase him to crave the spicyness for example i have heard people who crave salt may actually not be getting enough fluids weird huh? since salt actually dehydrates you!

Q: i'm2 mths prgnant and am suffering frm acute acidity & gastritis, pls tell me what food to avoid?
i have always suffered from acidity and gastritis but it has become much worse now since i have concieved. My doctor keeps telling me it is normal and to keep eating but she seems clueless about right diet to help control the problem. i am always nauseaus and belching and unable eat anything

A: Oh ,I feel for you ,I was so sick with my pregnancies. You know you can take some antacids when pregnant ? I found that I could only manage very bland low salt foods and cordial drinks sucked through a straw,I also enjoyed apples. its really rough when you want to eat healthily for the baby ,but nothing is good to eat. Remember not to worry too much, the baby is getting all it needs from you and it is you that goes without. If you find something that you can eat and feel okay with ,just eat it ,don't worry about the nutritional values etc,the main thing is that you eat something !! Good luck with it and I hope it passes soon for you. P.s I found sucking sweets felped too :)

Q: How can I reduce weight in upper thighs and hips?
I am 28 yrs old. I have a normal body except for fat in hips and thighs thats being since childhood. I cant diet as I have gastritis. I can do minimal exercise without pressure to foot. I normally go for low fat food and am conscious of food what i am consuming, Please suggest the exercise specific to these areas and also describe them more clearly for my understanding. Too technical, i might not understand..

A: Well, there is no such thing as spot reduction; i.e. training a certain area will not have a large effect on that area. The biggest problem is the problem that you have with your foot, since most exercises are weight bearing. You can try getting on a bike or elliptical trainer, but if it becomes painful then by all means stop. One of the best ideas is to start a pilates program. It will not cause you to put pressure one your foot, and should help sculpt your thigh and midsection area. However, you will still need to get rid of the fat that covers the areas. Pilates will help, but are nowhere near as effective as a cardio workout for reducing fat. If you find that you can do cardio, try starting out at 30 minutes a day, 3 days a week and see how your body responds. If you find that it responds positively, you can go 3-5 days/week for 30-60 minutes each day. It is important that you go for 20+ minutes every time; this is the point that your body switched from carbohydrate stores to fat stores as its main method of energy.

Q: Are IMMUNE disorders related to GASTRITIS, EROSION, and ULCERS?
I'm not going to get into all my medical problems, but I was wondering if immune system diseases are related to ulcers in the stomach, intestine, gastritis, erosion in my digestive tract, and other scarring in my digestive tract? Just to note, I am 15 years old, very clean (in all ways!), good diet, and exercise (well not anymore due to weakness, joints, etc.), never smoke, never drink. For the past two years I have been getting sicker and sicker, and symptoms keep growing worse. The only doctor I have been able to see is a GI and I'm scheduled for Aug. 24 with a rheumatologist, but I'm afraid I can't wait that long. After two years of GI testing, which I knew wasn't what I needed, I wanted other things - IMMUNE, the only thing that came up was high ESR, and some inflammation and scarring in intesines, but when it was evaluated again, it was gone. The symptoms I have been most worried about is pain in my lungs, back, shoulders, joints, bones, rashes, redness, swelling, fevers, heart and chest pain, shocks, loss of use in legs, collapsing, etc. etc. so many other things! My symptoms have been steering towards Lupus but then again I have no idea what's really wrong. Although I am extremely lucky to have been given the news I recieved today, I know this isn't the only thing going on...I would love to know if anyone knows about diseases related to this? Or if anyone has experienced this and found more answers?

A: Sounds like you may have IBD (Crohn's or Ulcerave Cloritis). Have your GI do a Small Bowel Follow Through - it is painless and can be conclusive. I have Crohn's, and many of the same symptoms. You might want to try the SCD Diet for a few days and see if you get any relief (www.scdiet.org). Good luck!

Q: Gastritis and breastfeeding?
My son is 1 month old, and I am breastfeeding, I am in terrible pain and feel like throughing up because Of the Gastritis That I have. I live off of liquid antacids like Maalox. I go through bottles. I got this while I was pregnant. So Ive had it for a while. What can I take that it wont hurt my baby while breastfeeding? or is their anything that you can suggest I can take to help it. I have changed my diet. Thanks.

A: I would encourage you to work with a doctor to make sure that there isn't an underlying infection or other health problem causing the problem. Papaya enzymes are supposed to be very good for treating excess stomach acid, and is safe. You can buy it in pills or eat fresh papaya. Some people also swear by apple cider vinegar. Domperidone is used by mom's to increase their breastmilk supply but it is also a stomach drug used for ulcers I think. Not sure if it would help you but its considered very safe for breastfeeding moms (except in the US where the drug is banned) Zantac is relatively safe as it is commonly used in babies http://toxnet.nlm.nih.gov/cgi-bin/sis/search/f?./temp/~hc6z80:1 Pantoprazole is considered safe http://toxnet.nlm.nih.gov/cgi-bin/sis/search/f?./temp/~l8TR2R:1 I'm just taking random stabs in the dark though. I'd have to know what class of drugs you are looking at and go from there. I mean there are ulcer drugs, acid inhibitors, proton pump inhibitors, etc

Q: Help!!! I have extreme Gastritis and It hurts bad! Any natural remedies for pain/Gas!/anxiety?
I've had Gastritis since August 12, 2006. August 11th, I went out and drank so much I threw up, the next day, I drank 2 sips of beer and all of a sudden, bang, my stomach blew up like a balloon. My anxiety automatically escalated the problem. I was take to the hospital and diagnosed with Gastritis. The Nurse told me to get on a bland diet, (with out specifics). ON August 26th, I was back in the emergency room. I was bloated like you couldn't believe and my anxiety was kicking so hard, i got sick and wanted to pass out. The nurse finally told me to get on soup for 2 days then work my way up. It's been 4 days of nothing but soup and I'm no better. I've been taking prolosec since August 26, along with maalox when I need it. Now I get extreme gas that won't go away, it keeps me up all night and hurts through out the day! What do I need to do and is this normal. last night I had an episode again but I handled it. I wanted to throw up and coudn't, my upper stomach feelslikecrap.

A: Use GasX or some other anti-gas remedy. Stay on the prolosec and watch you diet. Stay away from Cola, Chocolate, anything with caffeine. Stay away from greasy food , acidic foods and salty foods. Cabbage and certain radishes cause excessive gas. I know that's asking allot. I've lived with a bad stomach for years. (From alcohol abuse). You'll learn soon enough what you can and can't eat with out problems.
