Q: Menorrhagia?
I am 24, and I missed taking a pill about two weeks ago. Pregnancy isn't a concern, but my period is now been going strong for nearly ten days. This is abnormal for me, what's going on? What should I do if it doesn't stop?
A: You need to contact your gyno, this can lead to anemia, and they may need to do other testing as well. This could also mean that your body is having hormonal changes. But above all you need to consult your gynocologyst it would be way safer.
Q: How do I if I have Menorrhagia?
This is a question most men will not want to even think about. Menorrhagia is the word meaning having a very heavy period. I have to use thick pads, that I need to change every two hours, during the first two days. If you know anything about this, let me know.
A: The Mayo Clinic has an article that is very detailed, including signs and symptoms, causes, risk factors, treatment, etc.

Q: How does Menorrhagia got to do with anemia?I would like some physiological explanation and also good websites?
A: From what I know, the prolonged period of menorrhagia can cause anemia. This is because the amount of menstrual blood exceeds the forming of new RBCs rate, therefore it leads to anemia. And for the exact physiology, have you tried to search in medical books? I am not sure you will find a good physiology if you googled it, but if you're just curious and this is not for an assignment, I think google is enough..
Q: What are the common causes of menorrhagia and metrorrhagia?
A: The major cause of both scanty and excessive periods is generally hormonal shifts. Light or absent periods can be caused by stress, changes in lifestyle, or excessive dieting or exercising. Heavy flow can also be the result of fibroids, or overgrowth of tissue in and around the uterus, known as endometriosis. Your gynecologist can give you more information.
Q: I think I have Menorrhagia and Dysmenorrhea. Can anyone suggest any remedies that work quickly and permanently?
A: birth control pills
Q: Is there any scientific basis to use cinnamon in the menorrhagia?
A: Cinnamon has been used in connection with uterine hemorrhage and heavy menses (menorrhagia) over the years because of its tannin properties (which tends to decrease discharges), but with no (or minimal at best) scientific evidence.
It has been shown to restore tone to the uterine muscular structure to some small degree, and can moderate hemorrhage (even post-partum) - but only hemorrhage that is NOT disease related; for example, it wouldn't work on someone with Endometriosis, adenomyosis, fibroids or disease-dependent abnormal uterine bleeding.
Hope that helps.
Q: How does hypothyroidism cause menorrhagia?
conversely... how does hyperthyroidism cause oligomenorrhoea?
thanks :o)
A: Hypothyroidism and its link to gonadal hormones is not clearly understood. To the extent understood , hypothyroidism slows down metabolic processes of the entire body including pituitary and gonadal hormones causing sharp drop of estrogen and progesterone levels. Endometrium becomes dysfunctional, resulting in increased expulsion of it .Coupled wth this anemia and limited intake of calcium and fat soluble vitamins increases bleeding time and uterine flow. The net result is shortened menstrual cycle and increased flow.
The reverse happens in hyperthyroidism
Q: My period is heavy, but not Menorrhagia. Any ideas on how to make it less heavy? :(?
A: Depending on your age, going on the birth control pill will not only (after about 3 months) will usually cut the length and flow of your periods as well as being able to know when, give or take a few hours, to expect your next one. Many woman also benefit from the pill to decrease their cramps and it does do that. I hope that helps. peace:)
Q: how does menorrhagia effect fertility?
i have menorrhagia. i'm wonder how it effects fertility. can i still have kids? what are my chances. i'm every scared can anyone help?
A: This is a question best suited for your doctor, not a bunch of strangers with no medical certification. You can search it on the internet and get some general answers, but only the doctor can answer your questions in regards to your exact medical history.

Q: how do i if i was to have menorrhagia and i have a dnc will i still be able to bear a child?
A: I'm not sure what your question is... its D&C which is clearing out the insides and menorrhagia which is excessive bleeding during your period...so is your question can you still have children? i would think imagine so, neither of those things prevents you from having children.
Q: Have any of you had menorrhagia amd / or anovulation?
If so, what was done to control the bleeding?
A: Hi. Yes, I've had menorrhagia and anovulation in my past but I also have PCOS and ovarian cysts so those are some of the symptoms. The only thing that regulated my periods and controlled the bleeding, pain and duration of menses was birth control. You should definitely consult your ob/gyn and maybe have your hormone levels checked & maybe an ultrasound of your pelvis to make sure that everything is ok.
Hope this helps & goodluck to you!
Q: Menorrhagia treatment in homeopathy ?
My wife is using Lachesis 200x and Caulophylum 200x for heavy bleeding, Please tell me how many days she should use these medicines in between the periods? We are not able to contact the doctor who prescribed these medicines.
These medicines are being taken once daily 4 drops each.
A: Both Lachesis and Caulophylum are remedies for heavy bleeding. My suggested dosage, if taken in 200x potency, would be to take these medicines about a week before the periods are due and 2 weekly doses of 4 drops in ΒΌ th cup of water should be taken. Take Caulophylum in the morning and Lachesis in the evening.
Welcome back to the eminent ** Soul Doctor **. He has also very rightly pointed out the correct options.
P.S. Please elaborate if the above remedies are providing any relief to your wife.
Q: Does Anyone Have Any Home Remedies For Menorrhagia?!?
Hi I'm 15 And I'm Suffering From Menorrhagia (Prolonged And Heavy Periods) I Have Had My Period For The Past 12 Days. It Is Quite Heavy And Uses Up About 3 Tampons A Day. I Have Heard This Is Common In Pre-Adolescence But I Was Wondering If There Is Any Home Remedies I Can Do For This As I'm Going Out With My Boyfriend This Weekend. Thanks!
Jessie xo
A: I found a link to a site that might be of help to you:
http://www.ctds.info/menorrhagia.html
I would however recommend that you consult with a doctor/gynaecologist for further evaluation (if you haven't already), especially if you soak through 3 tampons a day or you are passing large clots, since heavy and prolonged bleeding can cause you to become anemic.
Good luck :)
Q: Question for Women with menorrhagia and/or endometrosis.?
Also, I would appreciate any other input if you are a nurse or an OB or GYN or both. I have both conditions. And I have seen several doctors on this. I am considering having Endometrial Ablation. I don't really want a hysterectomy. And I don't really have any abnormalities or other issues that really warrant it. I have had all the blood work, pap smears and even a ultra sound. There are no other problems. I have been told by doctors and read some things that suggest that a lower altitude, warmer weather, and lower sea level will help this.
I have noticed when I travel down south, like Arizona or the bottom of Nevada or San Diego, that I have less problems. Just wondering if there is anything to this. We are considering moving down to Las Vegas because of it. I always feel better there and anywhere where its really hot or at least warmer.
Is this all in my head or is there something to this?
What other things can help to minimize symptoms, besides surgery and hormones? Natural!
A: Altitude can definitely affect it, that's why some people get nose bleeds in higher altitudes. The higher the altitude, the higher your blood pressure can go to regulate your body. The lower the altitude, things come back down. A friend of mine had ablation done and she is very happy with the results. Personally, I have both as well and have an appointment in the morning for final tests and to schedule my partial hysterectomy. I chose this method because ablation isn't a guarantee that you can't get pregnant, only that you won't carry. It also doesn't guarantee no bleeding. My friend had a period 3 months after having it done. I have been bleeding for almost 2 years almost non-stop and I'm over it. Hysterectomy is the best choice for me. Unfortunately, there are no natural remedies to cure this.
Q: Menorrhagia, treatments, experiences etc?
Has anyone had experience with treating menorrhagia (excessive menstrual bleeding)? What worked, what didn't? I know many recommend going on the pill, but the other side effects from that make that not an option.
A: Well, I had a endometrial ablation that work wonderfully. However that is NOT an option if you ever want to have children in the future. Other than that and the pill I really don't know of anything. Sorry.
