Q: What is the difference in feed, nutrition, and diet?
(definition wise) or do diet and nutrition mean the same thing?

A: Diet - Food and drink regularly provided or consumed b: habitual nourishment c: the kind and amount of food prescribed for a person or animal for a special reason d: a regimen of eating and drinking sparingly so as to reduce one's weight. Feed - To supply with something essential for growth, maintenance, or operation. Nutrition - The process of nourishing or being nourished, especially the process by which a living organism assimilates food and uses it for growth and for replacement of tissues. The science or study that deals with food and nourishment, especially in humans. A source of nourishment; food. OK, they are all very similar and speak to the same subject so if you are looking for the difference, I I guess you will have to be more specific with the question . I think of a diet as what you eat and nutrition as what is in the food we eat (as in chemical makeup like vitamins, proteins, sugars and so on..) and feed, well that's something I do as a verb. I feed people, animals and myself.

Q: What is the proper nutrition and diet I should go on to "tone up" not "lose weight"?
I am 14, I am not really harsh to my self about my body, I love myself, But I have been wanting to tone up for a while now, tone up but not lose weight, I have a gym and fruits and vegies, everything, but what diet should I be going on? What nutrition should I be getitng??

A: At age 14 I don't think you need to be too picky yet about your diet. You're body is going through many changes that requires good nutrition. I think it's a good idea to eat as much fruit & vegetables as you can, but don't cut out dairy & whole grains. Start drinking skim milk if you can, eat yogurt, & eat whole wheat toast. Also, if you're already out of that "fruit loop, cocoa puff" stage then I suggest eating Special K cereal. I especially like the fruit & yogurt flavor. Try it you'll like it :) And don't cut out lean protein either, eat plenty of chicken, tuna, & healthy cooked fish. You might want to check with your parents first before starting your diet, because they may not be in tune with your new found diet plan. Maybe you can integrate (introduce) healthy eating habits among your family. Exercise is a good way to tone up your body. Have you ever thought about gymnastics? I know at that age I was well into gymnastics & it definitely helped my physique. You can also jump rope, that is a very good work out & easy too. You can maybe even buy one of those mini trampolines, same kinda workout. But it works, trust me! You're smart to start taking care of your body now. I hope this helped, good luck!

I'm 14 years old and VERY small. I need to gain weight and add more protein to my diet but protein powders taste disgusting and a lot of nutrition pills are way too huge for me to swallow. Got any tips/suggestions?

A: I have the same problem as you. Here's what I take: Pro Nos protein (very good taste)- chocolate- after a workout or in the morning on days I dont work out Women's Maximum Nutrition multivitamin powder- chocolate- I mix it in the protein You can find both at GNC.

Q: Trying to find a primary care doc who encourages diet and nutrition over pharmeseuticals?
Any idea how I can find a doc like this locally (like a site that lists primary care doctors who are more focused on diet and nutrition?) Thanks. For the answer of, "Sometimes you really need to cure what ails you with a pill"... That's the medical attitude I'm actually trying to avoid. What I want to find is, "a pill should be the last resort for what ails you."

A: Try finding a patient who will follow good nutrition upon the advice of a doctor!! Good nutrition should be followed by every one. Paying a doctor to tell you to eat healthy is like paying a doctor to tell you to always be sure to breath!! Doctors that focus on diet and nutrition are probably as useful and as common as a rubber crutch!! Doctors are most wisely used to diagnose and treat DISEASES. After all that is what their training is all about. And it takes many years of training and experience to do just that.

Q: How to follow a diet/healthy nutrition?
I don't follow any strict diet - I just want to exclude sweets and bread from my everyday meal. But everyday I still eat a candy or a cake, so I don't follow the way once chosen. How to be strong in my decisions concerning nutrition? *none of my friends sit on a diet, so they always eat candies, and me, I eat them with my mates...

A: It is called willpower, and if you wish to adhere to a diet, or anything else, you need to develop the ability to say no, and mean it.

Q: where can i get diet/nutrition info to help my son eat right for all the gynastics/dance training he does?
concerned that my son really does not eat enough for a start, but on top of that he is a very active child.he does something every night and all weekend in particular dance classes and intensive gymnastics training.looking for nutrition information/diet plans that my 10 year old can read and understand how much he needs to eat to train this hard and not become ill and grow properly.

A: You should start by talking to his various coaches and trainers and see what they recommend. If you can't get something concrete from them, it would probably be worth it for you to invest in a session or two with a nutritionist, one that's worked with children before. She can explain the plan to YOU in adult detail and to your son in ways he can understand. You'll probably learn something too.

Q: High paying jobs in diet and nutrition or physical activity areas?
I really love the diet and nutrition fields and physical activity and really think it would be cool to get a job in that area someday. I was just wondering, are there any high paying jobs in those areas so I could easily raise a family with it and have a good deal left for making my family comfortable? Thanks

A: Personal trainers are usually very happy people and don't complain about their jobs as a trainer because it's what they love to do and yes you can definately make money while doing it, depending on where you live, in CA some trainers are millionares because they train athletes and top models etc etc...you may not be a millionare but definately live comfortably if you apply yourself.

Q: Comparision of a gluten free diet to a normal diet regarding nutrition?
I want to know the comparision of a gluten free diet to a normal diet regarding nutrition

A: Gluten is a very common protein found in many cereals. The amino-acids in gluten can be easily found in animal products. In terms of nutrition, a gluten free diet is just as good as a normal diet. I guess you know someone with Coeliac disease. The problem with this disease is not to get nutrients, but to avoid gluten as it is a hidden ingredient in many commercial foods. The Vegetarian Society believes that a gluten-free diet is compatible even with vegetarianism. Some doctors and The Coeliac Society advise against a vegetarian or vegan diet for coeliacs because they believe it may make your diet too complicated. In summary, the problem of a gluten free diet is not the nutrition but the difficulty to comply with. I

Q: Is there a nutrition diet thing if you have aspergus suydrome?
been craving chocolate wondering if i should stop eating it do not know if affecting AS.

A: To my knowledge there is no particular prescribed diet. Of course eating too much fat and sugar isn't good for anyone, but I don't think there are particular things you should avoid just because you have Asperger's. If in doubt you can always use Google and/or talk to your doctor, but I can't think of a reason diet would affect an Asperger's person differently from someone without AS.

Q: Blance of nutrition in a homemade dog diet?
I am researching ways to create a nutritionally balanced homemade diet for dogs. I am researching homemade diets and raw diets. Do any of you make homemade dog food? Where did you come up with your nutrition balance? Can you list some websites that tell what a good nutrition balance is for homemade dog food?

A: It does depend on the breed and their activities. For my sighthounds, I use a combination of the following: -cooked ground beef -cooked ground turkey -hard-boiled eggs -plain yogurt -salmon oil -Nature's Kitchen Preference dehydrated dog food supplement. We used to use regular turkey meat roasted when we had full birds in abundance, but the ground works better because you can cook it and the ground beef (73% lean is usually OK) at the same time in the wok. You can use raw eggs, but the boiled ones are safer. The salmon oil is good for their coats, comes in a pump dispenser, one squirt per 20# of pet weight. The yogurt is a good calcium source and keeps their gut flora balanced. The Preference is dehyrdated veggies, fruits, and greens that provide good vitamins and nutrients for them. We discovered this combinaton as a spinoff of a cancer diet we concocted for one of our previous dogs. We used to do kibble, but they hated it, and refused to eat it, so no more.

Q: How does my knowledge of nutrition, specifically in observing proper diet, help in saving the environment?
How does my knowledge of nutrition, specifically in observing proper diet, help in saving the environment? Will my knowledge of correct unit conversion help me become an effective member of society?

A: An example of a way that nutrition can help the environment is FoodBank. What about getting people to eat fresh foods, cooking from scratch and not buying takeaway therefore reducing the amount of packaging and processing (foods which are also generally alot healthier)? Not sure about the unit conversion bit?
