Q: nutrients?
Nutrients in Food! 10 points 4 best answer?
can someone tell me the MAJOR nutrients in these food groups.. ..
Fruit and Vege.
Breads and cereals
Milk and milk products
Meat and Alternatives.
MAJOR nutrients please
A: ~~
Fruits provide vitamins A and C, potassium and fiber. The amount of these nutrients in each fruit variety varies.
Vegetables provide vitamins A and C, potassium, fiber and other nutrients. Each vegetable contains different amounts of these nutrients so it's important to choose a variety of vegetables each day!
* The deeper the color, the richer the nutrient content.
* Vitamin A helps night vision and helps keep skin and eyes healthy.
* Vitamin C helps help heal cuts and fight infections.
* Potassium helps regulate blood pressure.
* Fiber promotes regular digestion and may reduce the risk for certain cancers and heart disease.
Grain Group foods provide complex carbohydrates and fiber. Two categories make up the Grain Group — whole grains and refined grains. Whole grains include the entire grain kernel:
* The protective outer layers or bran.
* Inside the seed or endosperm.
* The grain's small powerhouse or germ.
Refined grains, such as white rice, pasta or white bread, have the bran and germ removed to give them a finer texture. Many refined grains are "enriched" to replenish the B vitamins — niacin, thiamin, folic acid and riboflavin, and the iron removed during processing. Fiber and other trace nutrients, however, are not added back after processing.
Milk Group foods like milk, cheese and yogurt together provide calcium and eight other essential nutrients, including protein, phosphorous, vitamins A, D and B12, riboflavin, niacin and potassium.
The Meat Group contains foods from both plants and animals. Meat Group foods provide protein and iron, as well as B vitamins, vitamin E, zinc and magnesium.
Q: What nutrients are easily absorbed and can move through the body dissolved in water?
Have a test tomorrow. Just wondering what nutrients are easily absorbed and can move through he body dissolved in water.
If the question says "nutrients", could the answer be "glucose" or is her teacher wanting more than one answer? Does glucose move through the body dissolved in water? Thanks for helping us figure this out.
A: glucose is absorbed directly
table sugar is disaccharide made of glucose and fructose, very little digestion
starch is a polymer of sugars
glucose a sugar, is fund in many foods
salt is absorbed directly
alcohol is absorbed directly
sugar and salt ae water soluble
fats and proteins require more digestion
Q: What nutrients and vitamins should I focus on getting for more energy?
My girlfriend and I have decided to start exercising more now. We walk, jog, bike, and lots more. We don't have a lot of energy though. We stay away from soda. We eat enough, but still... I'm 15, she's 17. I'll be turning 16 pretty soon, so how much of these nutrients should we consume? Thanks.
A: Take anything that has a good supply of B-vitamins. Vitamin B helps boost mental and physical energy. You can get it in liquid form or as a supplement. It depend on how you want it. The drink form will react faster for a boost of enery. XS energy drinks are a great source of that. It uses just Vitamin B to provide you with the energy. There is a Nutrilite Natural B Complex for a pill form as well as Nutrilite Rhodiola 110 Supplement. You can get more info on these at http://Arcameda.com . Just search for vitamin b or XS. Both of the sources or vitamin B listed have multiple types of B.
Q: What are the main nutrients found in meat and alternatives?
How do these nutrients help the body?
What are the examples of foods that are rich in these nutrients include?
A: Protein-made up of amino acids, break down to aid in digestion & metabolism.
Fat- energy; brain is made up of 60-70% fat & needs fat to function mentally, cognitively, etc.
Iron- help create red blood cells that are needed to bring nutrients to all the cells of the body.
Not sure what you mean by alternatives, sorry.
Q: What are the main nutrients found in rice and alternatives?
How do these nutrients help the body?
What are theexamples of foods that are rich in these nutrients include?
A: one cup of rice has over 88% the daily recommended ammount for manganese (not to mention 27% the rda of selenium, 20% the rda of magnesium, 18% the rda of tryptophan, and 14% the rda of fiber).
manganese helps produce energy from proteins and starches, helping to synthesize fatty acids which are vital to the nervous system and sex hormones. manganese also makes superoxide dismutase (sod) possible. sod works inside our body's cells to protect them from free radical damage. manganese keeps bones strong and blood sugar normal.
other great sources of dietary manganese are: pineapple, garbanzo beans, spinach, cloves, raspberries, soybeans, and other grains, vegetables, and spices.
interesting, isn't it!

A: Take a vitamin supplement with zinc. That will work the best.
Q: What is the proper way to provide nutrients to my plants, growing hydroponically?
on the bottle it says how much to use per gallon so how do i know when its been used up and when do i have to add more nutrients, i have seen some people wait until the reservior empties to half then they flush and refill then add more nutrients, what do you think?
A: Plants absorb nutrients through capillary action at the rate of concentration of the available nutrient. They absorb the fluid then extract the nutrient, they do not extract the nutrient from the free floating fluid.
That is why there is a recommended concentration. The flushing of the reservoir is to remove settled solids and other impurities so as not to change the concentration of the newly added solution. What you have observed is the recommended procedure for small non commercial hydroponics.
Q: What nutrients do flowerhorn fish need?
I want to know what part of nutrients do flowrhorn fish need the most.
Why some flowerhorn fish food contains "Ash"?
What do moistures do?
What part of nutrient makes flowerhorn fish's bump bigger?
A: You need to basically keep their main diet a good cichlid pellet. I really like Hikari's Cichlid Gold pellet, it is a good all around cichlid food that contains everything they need to stay healthy. I have just ordered another pellet food from Hikari called Bio-Gold, it is supposed to be very good for South American cichlids. Flowerhorns are hybrid cichlids, but the species they come from are all South and Central American cichlids, so as long as you keep the diet the same as it would be for any other SA or CA cichlid you should be fine. No food will help the hump get larger on the Flowerhorn, this is a genetic trait, feeding it a specific food will do nothing to the hump that will not happen naturally.

Q: Do you lose food nutrients when you bake healthy fruits veggies into bread?
I have been baking various whole grain breads with pumpkin, cherry, plum, butternut squash purees. I was hoping I wasn't losing the nutrients of the purees.
A: cooking anything makes it lose nutrients, yet sometimes it makes other nutrients more available for our body to utilize. But applying heat makes the food lose nutrients. I should stress the fine point that lost nutrients through cooking does not necessarily mean less nutritious. Take corn, lots of niacin, but none in a form the human body can use. Cook it with wood ash, and voila! a niacin source. This form of corn is called hominy.
Oh yeah, and next time you are at the store, check the lable on a can of regular corn. It tells you that there is so much niacin (vit. B6) in it. But the FDA, USDA allow the false labling. Sure its in there, but we poop it out.
Q: What are the most important nutrients or vitamins to take when fasting?
I am going to be fasting for 30 to 45 days. What are the most important nutrients or vitamins to take so I don't starve my brain or muscles? So far I figure a multivitamin, whey protein, and a fish oil supplement. Any other suggestions.
A: make sure you are taking a pure whey protein so you don't get overloaded with all those artificial sweeteners and artificial flavors!
here's a comparison

Q: Are the nutrients in vegetables evenly distributed though the plant, stalks and all?
Is the top part of the broccoli (sprouts) more nutrient rich than the bottom part (the stalks) or are the nutrients distributed evenly?
A: It depends on the particular plant and the nutrients in question.
Broccoli, for example has lots of minerals - these are distributed more or less evenly throughout the plant. Its antioxidants: carotenoids, xanthophylls, anthocyanidins etc... however, are found in higher concentrations in the florets. (They are the chemicals that give the plant its dark green color.)
The same is true with many other vegetables and fruits. Often times these chemicals act as a "sunscreen" for a particular part of the plant - preventing DNA damage from the Sun's UV rays (apple peels - anthocyanidins, orange pith - vitamin C, spinach - B carotene).
When you get a suntan your brain and liver don't produce melanin; just your skin. To produce it elsewhere would be a waste of energy and resources. Therefore; uneven distribution.
