I am a type one diabetic. I also love to weight train and body build. I use whey and actually the insulin that i take to my advantage, but i was wondering if anyone else having type 1 has taken any other supplements other than whey? I work out quite frequently and drink plenty of water. My doctor just says that i should stay away from supplements that might put extra stress on my kidneys. Got any ideas?

A: 100% Whey Protein L-Glutamine Creatine

Q: What supplements do any of you recommend?
I'm trying to lose fat gain muscle (no surprise with those goals I hope). Can anyone here recommend any supplements that I could get at a grocery store or something (I'm not looking for some obscure potion) that can assist me with my new diet and exercise routine? Anything that has worked for you? I am completly clueless of all things diet/fitness related by the way so if something seems too obvious to mention, please mention it anyway. Thanks.

A: Co-Enzyme Q10, helps the metabolic efficiency of anybody. Dosage is age related tho. You don't mention your age so there isn't much more I can tell you.

Q: What supplements should i take for weight lifting?
I have just started weight lifting and i was told i should be taking supplements. There are so many, which ones should i be taking or do i even need them. I am basically looking to bulk up and gain muscle.

A: Well first u need to be doing a good weight program, if u are doing ur weights in the mouring or early in the after noon u will proberly need just the 3 supplements a tri-blend creatine, take this b4 ur workout, whey protein isolate (WPI) not whey protein concentrate(WPC), take this strait after ur workout and u can mix it in with some fruit like a smoothy or something and just b4 u go to bed take some Casein protein powder, this is a time release protien and should be taken with milk to help slow down the absorbtion, this will give protein to ur muscles throughout the night, or if u cant afford casien WPC does basically the same thing just bit cheaper, if u do ur weight session just b4 bed all u need is that creatine to take b4 ur session and a WPI/WPC blend to take after providing that is when u are goin to bed, also u cant bulk up if u are planning to eat junk food or have no respect for what goes in ur mouth like alcahol ect, just try and stick to natural foods this will help u more than most supplements :D

Q: What are the best supplements/probiotics to take, to get rid of massive Candida infection?
I am too lazy to change my diet, so I'd like to know if there are any specific antifungals/probiotic supplements that work pretty well to destroy an intestinal yeast infection...? If you managed to cure a Candida/yeast infection, what products or drugs did you take? How well did they work? I REALLY need help on this as I am faced with a serious health problem that may or may not be Candida overgrowth, but without medical insurance, I can't get extensive testing done to figure out what condition I really have. However from my own research, it seems likely that Candida is a major component of my longterm illness, if not the whole thing. Can you treat Candida effectively with supplements/drugs, without making significant dietary changes? I'm getting all sorts of symptoms now that keep increasing, something like IBS (I feel things moving in my digestive system, and constipation is severe) and blurry vision/eye pain/bloodshot eyes, water retention, fatigue.. I need some help!

A: Yeast is controlled in the long run by correcting diet and lifesyle habits. If you don't want to take charge of your diet and change it to eliminate the fungus permanently you will continue to have issues. Parasites feed on fungus and fungus feeds on sugars. Parasites can cause all of the symptoms you are talking about. www.curezone.com has homeopathic remedies you can use to cleanse both fungus and parasites from the body. Changing your diet will eliminate the IBS stuff. To permanently and effectively eliminate fungus and parasites you have to change your diet. I teach clients everyday how to get well without prescriptions, by changing thier lifestyles, habits and diets.

Q: What supplements can I take to increase semen volume and have more powerful ejaculations?
Peter North sells all these supplements on his websites but I don't know if they really work. Do you know if they help you shoot farther and more? Have any of you tried anything that really works?

A: What are you trying to do, blow her head off? Don't take any pills, just stop playing with yourself and don't get any for a while and you will have a huge load.

Q: What supplements can I take to counteract the effects of alcohol?
by that I don't mean hangovers. I'm taking about nutrient deficiencies, cirrhosis of the liver, brain damage, sexual problems, heart disease, cancer, etc. Will supplements help me reduce my odds of getting those things? because I'm not going to give up my 4 or 5 drinks a day. I'm not an alcoholic but I like to drink.

A: No, nothing's going to protect your system. You could get vitamin shots to protect you, but that's a little extreme. I think you should just accept that at that level of consumption, you'll shave a few years (maybe many years) off your life. I wouldn't worry about it. Oh - by the way - at that level of alcohol consumption, you would be classed as a 'functional alcoholic'. That's basically just a label though. And - if you want to be kind to your liver, you MUST rest it one day a week - absolutely no alcohol for 24 hours.

Q: What is the best combination of supplements and vitamins?
I'm looking to start taking some supplement and vitamins but I want to know which ones are really worth it. I know there are tons of supplements someone can take but which ones have the best results that can be proven? In example is it worth buy stuff like ginseng and milk thistle because sometimes supplements are quite expensive and if they don't yield any good results then why bother.

A: Since almost no one eats 7 servings of vegetables per day and eat an overall balanced diet, take minimum an organic natural multivitamin. Organic are gentle on the stomach and have a higher absolution rate than the synthetic stuff. I would go with Nutrilite. They have organic farms in Washington State and California and were the first supplement company. As far as an organic multivitamin, take Nutrilite Double X Vitamin/Mineral/Phytonutrient. As you can see, it is more than a multivitamin. It also contains minerals and phytonutrient. There is also Nutrilite Daily Multivitamin/Multimineral if you are wanting something simple. I noticed a big difference in my energy level after just 5 days of taking double x. Go to Arcameda.com and click on vitamins then Multivitamin to get more information on these. For males, also take: Nutrilite Bio C Plus Nutrilite Antioxidant Complex Nutrilite Ocean Essentials Brain Health For women take: Nutrilite Cal Mag D Nutrilite Complex for Hair, Skin & Nails Nutrilite Ocean Essentials Brain Health The Gensona General Nutrition Genetic Test is also a good suggestion. Hope all is well.

Q: How should I consume supplements if I work out at night?
Most of the work out programs I have studied have the lifter working out in the morning, and taking their supplements throughout the day. I work out at 10PM and then go to sleep. How can I use my supplements effectively and still work out at 10PM?

A: What supplements are you taking? And more importantly what are you eating besides taking supplements. If your diet is weak, supplements will be a waste of time and money.

Q: How do I know what brands of supplements have the potency correctly stated on the bottle?
I have heard of and seen programs where they test certain brands of vitamins and other supplements sold in drug stores. On these programs they 'expose' brands as not having in the 'pill' what the brands say they have. For example, a glucosamine capsule which advertises 1500 units on the bottle may only have 1000. This is just an example. I do not remember the brands which were 'bad' nor the supplement. So, my question is, how do I know I am paying for what I am getting? Today, I entered into a health store which sells a huge selection of vitamins and other pills. I wanted a specific supplement which might the pain I have in my rotator cuff. There were lots of these pills for joint health, and that is when I started to wonder if I am just buying a sugar pill or am I getting what it says on the bottle.

A: you never really know whats true and whats false when it comes to health....the best thing you can do is to research on your own. I recommend this website as I swear by it : www.newstarget.com you can type in any word in the search engine there (i.e a vitamin) and usually it has a very detailed yet simple explanation for what you're looking for. also you might want to try 'arnica' gel for any aches, pains and bruises...its amazing.

Q: What vitamin supplements should a young woman take?
I am 25 and fairly active. I currently take a multivitamin pill as well as fish oil daily. I don't want to overdo it. Which vitamin supplements are most important for a young woman to take?

A: Look for multivitamins that are marketed to younger women as they will be designed to suit your needs. If you are active, you should make sure you get enough calcium and vitamin D so that you don't get any stress fractures. This is even more important if you're rapidly increasing your exercise levels from nothing. It's too much, too fast, and the bone can't handle it. As long as you are taking a decent multivitamin then you shouldn't need any more. Fish oil is also a great supplement to take since it provides an excellent source of good fatty acids that help with overall cardiovascular health and brain function such as memory, recall and focus.
