Q: Brittle nails?
My dog has brittle nails. When I go to cut them, they tend to split and it makes me nervous because I don't want them to hurt him if a piece splits too high up his nail. Is there a way to make his nails stronger and less brittle? Either a supplement to make them stronger or a topical cream or oil that will help them?
A: My friend's dog has a similar condition - her nails keep breaking off and bleeding. She was diagnosed with a sort of autoimmune disease - kind of like lupus. You should probably get it checked out by your vet, just to be on the safe side. On the other hand, it might just be down to the kind of clippers you're using. You could ask a groomer for recommendations.
Q: what product preferably from sally hansen fixes my brittle nails?
my nails are so britlle that they brittle up to the nail bed (in other words not only the extra or grown out part, but the nail itself no matter how short brittles)
and I know that it's due to my bad nutrition, i know i have to eat better food...
but until then what product sold in CVS can help. I see lots of products from sally hansen but don't know which one to choose! help ! which one have you tried and worked for you?

A: I have used the conditioning cuticle oil from Sally Hansen. The better shape that your cuticle is in, the healthier your nail growth will be. Sally Hansen also has some hand lotions, but they are much the same as just using a regular hand lotion like Curel. You just have to make sure that you use a hand lotion several times a day to get the moisture to start to soak into your nails as well.
Q: How to repair thin brittle nails?
I recently took off my acrylic nails and realized that the person who did my nails had filed the nails REALLY THIN on one of my finger. It is so thin that it hurts when i add a little pressure on it. Other nails are thin too but not as bad. How do i repair my thin, brittle nails? The top layer of my nail (the coating?) came off with the acrylic as well (i took em off myself - didnt want to waste more money + had no time to goto a nail shop) so now the nail is kinda rough ... What are some products that I can use to boost/help repair the damage? (please do not suggest any SallyHansen products as they do not sell it where I live... :( )
A: U need to let them grow out - but also use a treatment like Sally Hansen hard as nails. It works very well. The process will take a few months, but your nails will look as good as new.
In the future, don't get acrilics. They ruin your natural nails. Natural nails look so much better anyway!

Q: How do I fix my brittle nails.?
My nails are always flaky and thin. And sometimes when i open a can of soda the white part of my nail will actually bend.
How can i make my nails stronger?
A: Try getting a polish like NutriNail with keratin in it, and also rubshea butter or olive oil onto your nails and cuticles a couple times per day, this will moisturize and keep them from being dry and flaky.
There are also hair and nail vitamins availible at health food stores, which contain proteins that help grow strong and healthy nails and hair.
Also, try going to a salon and getting a spa manicure every month or so, they put creams etc on your nails and trim your cuticles to make them stronger.
