Q: What conditions are most effective for the action of pancreatin?
something to do with the pH level...
A: a pH close to neutral is probably the optimal pH for pancreatin. While stomach enzymes, such as Pepsin, have low pHs around 2-3 as thier optimal pH, when the acid chyme reaches the intestine, it is neutralized by bases. Pancreatin is then secreted into the small intestine.
Q: What is the role of pepsin and pancreatin in protein digestion? Where can these enzymes be found in the body?
Digestion in human body.
A: Pepsin is a protease, and is produced by the stomach. Pancreatin is a mixture of enzymes produced by the pancreas. One of the enzymes is trypsin, which is also a protease.
Q: where can i get a pancreatin capsule, but just one?!!!?
i am trying to find a pancreatin capsule for my science project.
what brand is there and how much is it? also, i need to if i can get just one capsule. if i ask the person, would it be okay if just want to take one or two
A: No its not ok to ask somemone for pills.
Q: what is the majot protein-splitting enzyme in pancreatin?
A: I think it is trypsin.
Q: what is the major protein-splitting enzyme in pancreatin?
A: i believe this is the protein - Trypsin is produced in the pancreas in the form of inactive zymogen, trypsinogen. It is then secreted into the small intestine, where the enzyme enterokinase activates it into trypsin by proteolytic cleavage. The resulting trypsins themselves activate more trypsinogens (autocatalysis), so only a small amount of enterokinase is necessary to start the reaction. This activation mechanism is common for most serine proteases, and serves to prevent autodigestion of the pancreas.
Q: Are pancreatin capsules over-the-counter?
if they are, can you tell me where to get them and their brand(s)? if they're not, can you tell me any other types of medicine that contains the digestive enzymes like the pancreatin capsule? i need this for my science project. name many as you can.
thank you!!
A: You can find them at the health food store, the brand that I have used is 'Kal', but I know their are others.
Go to your local health food store and see what brands you can find.
Q: What is the effect of pancreatic juice starch, protein and fats?
I did an experiment in which i observed the action of pancreatin on starch ,protein and fats. But the results were not accurate.
A: 1. pancreatic amylase breaks some starches intosimple sugars.
2. pancreatic trypsin and chymotrypsin break proteins inot smaller peptides.
3. pancreatic lipase breaks down triglycerides
Q: What kinds of food help expel gas from the stomach or intestines?
My sister is always complaining that after eating (a light or heavy meal), her stomach seems to be full of gas. Could you recommend any food she should include in her daily meal that would help in expelling gas from her tummy and intestines? Her doctor prescribed PANKREOFLAT (pancreatin + dimeticone), to be taken after every meal and she religiously follows. Are there certain foods that she could eat to palliate her condition?
A: it's the breakdown of food that creates gas. alka seltzer or bicarbonate is recommended.
Q: explain how amylase and pancreatin speed up hydrolysis of starch.?
kindly answer this quest. right now............please do...
A: Amylase is an enzyme- Enzymes catalize reactions- a catalyst is a substance which speeds up the rate of reaction by lowering the activation energy
Q: Is it alright for a dog that takes pancrezyme, for pancreatitis, take Multi-Enzyme Probiotic Formula pills?
The Multi-Enzyme tablets were bought at the store and the pancrezyme tablets were given to me by the vet.
Pancrezyme has Pancreatin, Amylase, Protease, Lipase as it's main ingredients to help the body digest food. All of these are in the Multi-Enzyme that I bought from the store
A: I think you're fine, as these are all enzymes (amylase assists in starch digestion, protease with protein, lipase w/ fat digestion, and pancreatin is the major pancreatic enzyme. Dogs like humans, eat all three types of foods, so you should be fine.) and should only help your dog with its digestion. They should actually assist the pancreatin in working more effectively. Please, however, run this by your vet. I KNOW it's fine w/ humans, I'm just not a vet, so I'd like you to check this out w/ a professional.
Q: what is the remedy for flatus?
I have indigestion and gastric problem also. my stomac is releasing gas with bad smell. doctor sugested streptococcustaecalis and pancreatin ip. no use. what should i do?
A: Gas or flatulence can to a great extent be remedied at home using kitchen cures. Here are some of the tried and tested methods for treating the problem -
Mix 1/2 tsp of dry ginger powder with a pinch of asafoetida and a pinch of rock salt in a cup of warm water. Drink this concoction to get relief from gas.
Mix 2 tsp of brandy with a cup of warm water and drink this before going to bed.
Chew on some fresh ginger slices that are soaked in lime juice after meals.
A drop of dill oil in a tsp of honey taken immediately after a meal should be of great help.
Dry grind 1 tsp of pepper, 1 tsp of dry ginger and 1 tsp of green cardamom seeds. Add 1/2 tsp of this mixture to water and drink after 1 hour after meal.
Chewing peppermint after a meal does a lot more than just freshening your breath. Peppermint contains menthol that soothes the digestive muscles. It helps in treating flatulence, bloating and abdominal pain that accompanies gas. Peppermint oil combined with caraway oil has been used since ages to treat abdominal discomfort caused by flatulence.
Q: This is an experiment. Please help me if you know the answer.?
We have added starch to pancreatin. You know that pancreatin contains several enzymes: amylase, lipase. trypsin and chymotrypsin, and nucleases. So basically, it'll breakdown starch into maltose. Then we added benedict reagent and heated it for about 5 minutes. It turned dark green solution! There is no brick red precipitate as we've all expected. What could be possibly the reason behind this? Thanks :)
A: Pancreatin is the mixture of enzymes obtained by extraction of the pancreas and consisting essentially of lipases, amylase and proteases. Pancreatin hydrolyses fats, changes protein into proteases and derived substances and converts starches into dextrin’s and sugars.
Well, if u perform benedict’s test with starch there will be no change in color on addition of benedicts reagent, whereas when performed with dextrin there is appearance of green color and this is due to the fact that dextrin’s have more reducing activity than starch. Dextrins are intermediate products obtained during the course of hydrolysis of starch by the action of amylases.
So the possible reason is partial hydrolysis of starch resulted in formation of dextrin’s which on treatment with Benedict’s reagent gave a green color.
To confirm its dextrin u may perform the iodine reaction (red/violet/purple color)

Q: digestion of proteins?
pancreatin or pepsin? which digest protein faster?
A: pepsin is the active form of pepsinigen which is secreted by the chief cells in the gastric lumen. Hence, its action in the stomach preceeds any pancreatic enzyme. (pancreatic enzymes are secreted into the dudenum).
Q: Need help with biology lab?
You have four test tubes with 2mL of pH 3, 5, 7, and 9 buffers respectively. 2mL of starch and 1mL of pancreatin is then added to each test tube. You then take samples from each test tube at 0, 1, 2, and 3 minutes to see how much starch is present by adding iodine. The lab says the samples will be black in the presence of starch, turn red while digestion is occurring, and turn brown when digestion has completed. What should have happened?
A: the pancreatin eats the starch, and the iodine is the indicator. I'm not exactly sure what your problem is, since the lab says exactly what should happen. I'm not sure, but my guess is that it functions better in more acidic solution, since pancreatin is often called pancreatic acid.
