Q: Rutin is good for your sight. What is it? How is it ingested, (drank in tea, brownies, apply 2 skin)?
I read about rutin in today's paper as an aid to preventing blindness. If you wnat to take rutin how do you do so?

A: I have never heard of rutin; do you mean lutein? I think you can get capsules of it from health food stores, mail order, and maybe local drugstores.

Q: what is the Rf value of isoquercetin, quercetin, rutin?
i found the Rf value as 0.54,0.45,0.83 of an unknown compound. i know they are flavanoids. so i want to know the Rf value of isoquercetin, quercetin, rutin bcoz i hav the doubt that unknown compounds are these .please help me ind out the same.

A: You'll have to do another plate with the known compounds. Rf values could be of anything without comparison under the same conditions with known compounds.

Q: Rutin as birth control, emergency conception?
Anyone have experience using rutin as herbal birth control or emergency conception. Also, used for miscarriage or abortion.... just curious if this works before I try it.

A: I have read about it as part of a school report subject, but in all the cases i read on it did not work and was sometimes harmful to the fetus that ended up being born later on because it did not terminate the pregnancy!

Q: How risky is it to use herbs to end a pregnancy?
I've heard that Parsley, Rutin, Tansy, Pennyroyal, Blue Cohosh and Dong Quai can all aid in abortion. Is it safe to take these herbs? Are they safer and less harmful than clinical abortion? I'm not sure if I'm pregnant yet. I have only recently started having proper periods as I was on a medication that really made them very irregular. I had my first proper period in October, around the 18th, then November was on the 21st and December started on the 16th. So you can see, I really have no idea when my period will start this month. I did sleep with my boyfriend at New Year but we used a condom so I don't think I am pregnant and I've done 3 pregnancy tests (2 yesterday and 1 today) which were all negative but I wanted to make sure that if I was pregnant, I could have an abortion ASAP. I thought that instead of going to the hospital I could take the herbs and that would terminate the pregnancy. I've looked on a couple of sites and have ordered the required herbs. Just wanted someone else's opinion of the use of herbs.

A: http://www.sisterzeus.com/Abortif.htm Above is a website all about herbal abortions and the risks involved.

Q: What is the best way to lose the most weight and lose it fast?
I am not a cow or anything I just want to lose 20 or 25 pounds. I've always weighed 115 but after having two kids and a pretty big appetit I've gained some weight and I am trying to get ride of it. But I'm having a hard time finding things that work for me. Plus me and my boyfriend have a bet going on whoever loses the most weight by the end of the month wins $300. I have a rutin I eat yogurt and a nutrigrain bar or bannana for breakfast, I eat one of those Lean couizin 250 calories for lunch, and dinner I try to eat small portions of meat and a vegetable or noodles/potatoes or something that I cook at home no fast food. Along with the food diet I ordered these diet pills(DEEP) off the net to try and help. Has anyone taken these?I also exercise before and after dinner. I have a equliptical I use for a hour and then a couple hours later I do 200 stomach crunches and 100 arm curls with 5 lb. weights. I've been doing this for 2 weeks I only lost 2lbs. Can anyone suggest anything else?

A: Sounds like you are motivated. Don't be discouraged. Here are some aggressive but realistic ideas. First, for all of the "quick and easy" weight loss diet pill suggestions, remember, if something sounds too good to be true... it probably is, particularly if you have to pay for it. On Yahoo!Answers I find certain questions being asked repeatedly which is simply a reflection of new people participating. A couple of common questions amount to "How do I lose weight," or more specifically, "How do I lose abdominal fat?" I have gotten very positive responses from my answers when I paused to reply (and now beginning to get "It works!" emails that are very gratifying. I like helping people)... so have recently decided to put a good solid answer on my Yahoo!360 Blog (September 10) that I can point people to. These are my thoughts as a physician and athlete. Don't target losing more than about 2 lbs per week. If you try to lose faster, your body will go into "starvation mode" and get very stingy about burning calories while at the same time very efficient about storing any calories that you do provide. And it will make you feel awful. There is no site specific way of losing fat... the old myth about working your abs to burn belly fat isn't true. To get rid of love handles, you need to lose overall fat. That happens with exercise and watching your diet. More on that below. The most effective way to lose fat is aerobic exercise in the "moderate" fat-burning range, ideally first thing in the morning before you eat. When you wake your body is ready to burn fat and your levels of growth hormone are highest at that time. Later in the day it can take up to 30 minutes just to put your body into a fat-burning mode. Another overlooked way to burn fat is by lifting weights. Skeletal muscle has very high caloric needs... almost twice that of adipose (fat) tissue. Put on a little muscle and you will burn calories all day even at rest. Be aware that skeletal muscle weighs more, so with this approach you may see your weight increasing while your body fat is melting away. Not realizing this often stresses folks who think they should be losing weight as a measure of fitness. Forget the scale, look in the mirror and you will be happy. To lose a pound of fat, you need to eliminate about 3500 calories. You can do this by burning more with exercise or by modifying your diet to reduce intake. If you do a Google search on say, "swimming calories" you will quickly find a website with tables of calories burned for a given exercise. You can use such lists to estimate how many calories you are burning up with your routine. For diet, keep a diary for a couple of weeks counting calories, grams of protein, and grams of fat intake. It is easy with online sources of nutritional information (type the name of the food and calories into the Google search engine) and packaging labels. That will let you quickly figure out where the fat is coming from in your diet. Fat gives you 9 calories per gram. So take the number of grams of fat, multiply by 9, then calculate what percentage the fat calories are of your total daily calories. Restricting the calories from fat to about 20% of your total intake is ideal for a maintenance diet... that isn't overly restrictive. Of note, you need some fat in your diet. For instance, the body uses fat to produce hormones. Once you have a picture of how to modify your diet, you can drop the diary and just go back to it occasionally if you are wanting to tweek things further. There is a subset of questions that goes further and asks about "How to get a six-pack?" The answer is the same. Six-packs are 20% abdominal exercise and 80% diet. There is one caveat... abdominal muscles will form in the position that you work them, so be certain to pull them tightly toward your spine while doing crunches, etc. Also, during most lifting, the "core is active" which means that you should be stabilizing with contracted abs then too. Fail to do this and the abs will form, but bulging outward and the result is not attractive. If you are trying to build muscle as a way to lose fat, then you may need to increase total calories and specifically your protein intake. I target about 0.8 g of protein per pound of body weight each day when actively building. That is far more protein than most people need in their diets. Aloha

Q: Anyone with a dog that has had a chylothorax and was treated successfully?
Our 2 yo dog was diagnosised with this and they are recommending surgery...but the stats vary a lot. Has anyone had a dog successfully treated by conservative methods such as diet and Rutin or successfully by surgery?

A: Chylothorax is fairly uncommon in dogs and cats, is usually secondary to other conditions or diseases, and can be difficult to treat Treatment of chylothorax is dependent on the cause of the effusion. Both medical and surgical therapy have been used. But again, it depends on the cause as to which is more appropriate. Sugery is usually suggested when medical treatment has failed- or is determined to be ineffective in the situation. While prognosis is not generally good- there was a recent study of 8 dogs that underwent a surgical proceedure. Seven dogs were free of clinical signs related to chylothorax at last follow-up and One dog was euthanatized 2 months after surgery because of lack of improvement. the conclusion was that the surgery they were performing resloved the issues of Chylothorax in 88% of canine patients. Although they say more studies need to be made. In some cases (not all), conservative methods (such as diet and Rutin) have not been successful.. Although there are cases where an underlying disease has not been diagnosed, where a vet may suggest a chest tap to remove fluids, and low fat diet can help along with medications as a course of treatment before surgery. Rutin is still being clinically tested to see how helpful its effects are. So its considered experimental.

Q: Can certain supplements increase estrogen or cause sore breast tissue?
I recently (within a week or two) started taking these supplements and in the last 3 days my breast have gotten extrememly sore and tender. Fish oil, CLA, Hoodia Gordonii, and a blend for circulation support that includes (Vit C, Diosmin, Hesperidin, Rutin, Quercetin, Grape Seed & Silicon) Are any of these known for increasing estrogen or causing breast discomfort? Or any other ideas on why this would happen? (I don't normally experience breast issues with my cycle and I don't think I'm pregnant)

A: Fish oil caused me a lot of problems even though I don't think it's normally associated with an estrogen increase. I backed off to taking every other day and that helped a lot. I asked at the women's clinic and they confirmed that some women do get breast swelling from too much fish oil. It goes away after a while, so you can then return to a daily dose. I just forget to take them. ;)

Q: Well what do we think of "Rutin Putin" now folks?
For a long time the american press loved this guy Vladimir Putin like Brad Pitt or something when many commentaters like Mr. Limbaugh saw right through the ex KGB man. I wonder why our elitist press always gets it wrong, hhhuuummm?

A: Russia killed Beria because they feared the consequences of the head of the KGB getting so much power - proves how right they were then and how wrong they were to elect Putin!! Sadly little people try to act big to impress but the truth is his waring has had to stop because he was told to stop by America and the West!!

Q: What is the full form of "AC" and "DC" used in power supply?
The power(Electricsiti) which we use in rutin life ....

A: 'Direct Current' describes electricity flowing in one direction. DC equipment is marked with + and -, and it will not work if the power is connected the other way round. Or it might work 'backwards'. Usually, DC machines are powered by a battery. 'Alternating Current' uses electricity that keeps changing its direction. This is mostly the sort of power that buildings connected to a 'grid' use. Because the flow of electricity keeps changing direction, you can't use + & -, so the wires are usually colour-coded so that you know which one to connect where. Most small machines (eg a radio) run on DC power, so if they plug into an electrical socket (AC power outlet), they need to pass the electricity through a 'transformer and rectifier' to turn it into DC, before it reaches the machine's circuitry.

Q: I weigh 119.8 Kg as of today. Is it possible to reduce this number to 110 by the end ot his week?
I have started a diet rutin and i want to really really lose those extra pounds. My body fat analysis says i have 45.5 kg of body fat. This is the amount i have to lose in order to be average weight. I do not have a gym nearby right now and i have no support from whoever whatsoever. Is it possible for me to lose 6 kg a week? Please so advise me. I do brisk walking for exactly 25 minutes per day, rum for 10 minutes a day, and the remender is walking fast. So an hour a day. I do it in the evernings from 6 pm to 7 pm daily. I eat... Breakfast 4 slices of bread toasted wityh 2 cheddar cheese lunch 4 saltline crackers with peanut butter dinner i burger patty chicken that is with lettuce and chillie sauce / thousand island dressing since i am working i dont have gourment like facilities could anybody suggest or recommend anything i am truly grateful for your support thanx. Mellisa Schubert

A: No, you cannot loose 6 kg per week. It is too much, almost impossible to achieve even if you were going to stop eating, which is not a very good idea. You can loose max. 1 kg per week if you want your diet to be balanced, to receive all the nutrients your body needs to live normally. You should follow a Mediterranean diet, walk (you don't need the gym for walking), be active and take care of yourself. I have lost more than 10 kg but it took me one year. I never starved myself, I even went out with friends to the restaurant, I only added more physical activity and tried to reduce on fat and sweets. The advantage of being patient in loosing wait is that if I eat too much one day I don't put weight on.

Q: Does anyone else struggle with BAD allergies? I have a great cure...?
I have been dealing with allergies, really bad, for almost 4 years. I have recently started taking Quercetin and gave up dairy. In 2 weeks I feel like I am cured!!!! Has anyone taken this before and does anyone have any additional things they could advise me on, especially diet changes. By the way, the Quercetin I'm taking is called Super Quercetin and it has vitamin C, rose hips, acerola, citrus bioflavonoids, hesperidin, rutin and pineapple bromelain in addition to the quercetin.

A: Quercetin has shown to help combat many medical conditions including allergies/inflammations. However, it is not a cure. Quercetin naturally occurs in many foods. So depending on the source used to obtain the quercetin it could possibly cause problems for those with allergies to those foods.
